A sports massage therapist (SMT) specializes in manipulating and stretching muscle and connective tissues for the purpose in enhancing functions of the body such as movement and performance.
Massage will also make the muscles more efficient by reducing the tension and increasing flexibility in tight muscle groups.

Regular sports massage sessions can help avoid overuse injuries and traumas, as well as being used for a medium for monitoring results, massage plays a significant role in any athletes training programme alongside warming up and cooling down.

I'm sure at time we have felt muscle soreness, strains, tightness, pain, bruising and weakness in a muscle, this is a sign that muscles are not functioning correctly and will hold you back in carrying specific tasks.

After the initial inflammatory stage, SMT is an excellent form of treatment, simply because it works with the body's own healing process. Scar tissue can build up in soft tissues such as muscles, tendons and ligaments; therefore by improving the circulation and manipulation of the injured tissues, will prevent the realigning of scar tissue and a much faster return to activity.

Pre Event Massage
Pre sports massage will create a state of readiness within the muscles and tissues by stimulating the circulation and generating a fresh supply of oxygenated blood to the area. Pre SMT is a short durable technique that is performed prior to exercise, the pace is up-tempo and rhythmic to stimulate the energise.

Post Event Massage
Post sports massage will create a general state of relaxation, and reduces muscles tension and soreness, post event massage aids a quicker recovery rate from being fatigued. The massage is similar to pre massage, as it aims to promote muscle soreness and reduce muscle tension.
